In partnership with TowerLabs@MaRS, Toronto Atmospheric Fund has released a report listing the top 10 energy efficiency products that can be installed in large- and medium-sized buildings. This sector has been historically slow to adopt new, energy efficient technologies, which can take as long as 25 years (or more) to achieve widespread use. We deliberately chose to highlight products that offer significant cost and energy savings, and reduce GHG emissions. Despite the advantages of using these technologies, none has been widely adopted. Our report can raise awareness among developers and property owners that these sorts of products – such as ultra low-flush toilets and drain water heat recovery systems – are available, and can yield long-term savings by eliminating wasted energy.
